Is there a way to track the BOM Revision Level in JDE without using the ECO Module?

It is not clear that the update functionality of the ECO module will work for the way we maintain our information.  Are there alternate ways of maintaining the revision level of the BOM without using the ECO module?  I tried doing an upload through the BOM z-table program and I entered the revision level but when I went back to the BOM entry and queried on the new BOM the Revision level did not appear.

We are potentially looking to implement Agile to manage our change order process so I don't know that we want to go the route of implementing the ECO module in JDE.
