Workaround when Availability Check (ATP) returns error

In one of my previous post , "Copying previous day Plan output and keeping it as backup" was suggested as the best workaround whenever a GOP plan completes in error .
Similarly do we have any workaround to schedule & book a sales order even though GOP returns an error message during scheduling . What best a customer service representative (CSR) can do in case availability check returns an error . The reason for this question is, most of the ATP related errors take time to resolve ( we need session files etc to debug) . I believe Override ATP can be used only to override an existing SSD and
