Setting up a subsidiary company in JDE

We have a new subsidiary that needs to be reported with the financial data of an existing company.  Is this purely a reporting function (Financial consolidations) or is there a company setup change that will facilitate the rollup of financial data?  If not, we will create consolidating financial reports to show the independent and wholly owned companies with the consolidated totals.
