I see unposted journals when I inquire but not in post journal form

why am I seeing unposted journals in the inquiry screen but have none to post in the post journal screen

all batches, headers and lines show as unposted--the journal lines do not conform to the journal totals and the diagnostic reports shows missing lines--do we blow away the journals and try  to re-import?
