Looking for a way to automatically force re-calculation of Cost/Revenue

we're looking for a way to automatically flag expenditure items for re-calculation. Is there something like an API which could update the expenditure to force re-calculation of Cost/revenue so that when the PRC: Distribute Labor Costs runs, it picks up the items and recalculate?
