Smart View ad hoc - protect cells but also allow refresh of data?

Hi there, I need to create Smart View reports.  I think the only options are to use Ad hoc or HsGet formulae.  Adhoc would be quicker to set up and less fiddly and better if metadata changes are needed later.  However, in order to prevent users from changing the POV, formatting, etc, need to somehow protect the report.  However with adhoc, if you do this in Excel, i dont think the data can be refreshed.  Ideally the user (rather than Administrator) could refresh the report themselves but not be able to change the formatting of the report, etc.  Is there
