Facing this error in 11i 'the receipt amount cannot be less than the sum of the applied and on-accou

Facing this error 'the receipt amount cannot be less than the sum of the applied and on-account amounts' when opening Receipt form. At the same time, it do not allow us to navigate to Apply form to unapply few invoices to fix this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Not sure how user created this situation in first place.
