In the early versions of the Configurator module, configured sales orders were needed to initiate related work orders. Those days are long gone as stand-alone work orders can be created as well as other sales order types and purchase orders. Whether at the parent-level, or for component items, a whole new world of functionality provides another level of complexity in the evolution of the configurator product.
