Any changes to RTF disturbes the layout of PDF output

Hi, I have a RTF template which seems to have been developed in MS Word 2003 few years back. Now when I modify the RTF (just changed a lower case to upper case) in MS Word 2010 and upload it, the formatting of the PDF output is disturbed.  Can you please suggest any reason for it.
