Item dimension storage

We have a new requirement to use the dimensions of a package as well as weight to determine the cost of freight.

EX:   Box of product is 57"x10"x5"  but only weighs 2 lbs.   In the past the freight cost was based on the weight of the object. Let's say $10.  The calculation today is done by the dimensions of the product so the $10 is now $100.

Question:

Is it possible to utilize the application P46011 (U/M Definition by Item)  to store the dimension data without using Advanced Warehousing?   We currently do not have a need for the Advanced Warehousing Module.
