Moving PM Schedules from Days Based to Hours Based PM

We are moving from a days based pm's for a particular site that has not entered meters for more than 2 years.  When we are trying to add the updated meters,  the first entry adds 12k hours to the meter reads which I believe is messing with the initial pM schedules.  Has anyone done this process before or do you know if there is a specifc way to get the meters up to date.
