Siebel IP2015 Future Dated Order and Asset Change Accumlations

My customer needs to implement order management with a future dated order management functionality.

Requirement is that, After submitting a future dated change order on a particular asset user wants the ability to change asset in between as well.

So, Let's say a future dated order with target date of 31 Jan 2016 is processed on 1 Jan 2016, in between (i.e from 01 Jan to 31 Jan 2016) the system should allow changes to the asset and also process the future dated order successfully at the due date of 31 jan 2016.

As such my understanding is that after submitting the future dated order the asset gets locked out for further changes till future dated order is executed? This is the OOTB workflow design.
