Sales Order Status

We have a business needs that require us to put a status on the order. We have determined that this is a sales order header status.

Status includes but not limited to

1) customer requested hold

2) waiting for approval

etc etc

I was originally going to make these into order activity rules except for there are 5+ and any status can go to any other status, so it was apparent i was going to run out of columns in the P40204.

Is there a designed home for this data?
