Ip2015 upgrade on linux OS issue

Hi

We want to upgrade our siebel IP2015 from 8.1.1.11.

We have Redhat linux 5.X.SRSP say we shuold have minimum linux 6.0 for ip2015.

my question is if i upgrade linux from 5.x to 6.it will format all existing application server or it wont touch application server.

My os is in virtual machine.
