Attention: To align with new corporate security policies, and to match policies adopted by other communities within Oracle, the My Oracle Support Community access requirements will change beginning September 18, 2025. Can an item be purchased and manufactured at the same time?

We have an outside processing (painting) process that we soon will be bringing in house. Currently

MRP plans work orders which create OO orders for the *OP process cost. Materials is telling us that

we are not going to be able to cover 100% of the demand in house at least for a while. They would

like the buyer/planner to determine on any given day whether to purchase the parts from our outside

processing supplier, or to do it in house. Which means that we could at any time have both regular work orders

and work orders with associated OO orders open on the same item. Of course, Cost Accounting has a hand in this as well since
