esata hotswap and Solaris 11

I have a STARTECH (PEXESAT32) esata card installed in a Solaris 1.3 machine.  The system recognizes the hardware on boot up, however when I try to unconfigure via cfgadm and reconfigure (for hotswapabilty), it fails.  The system will not recognize the esata device attached as "not connected".

Can someone help me work this out?
