Where in the docs is it described how to install an oms on one host with the repository on another host?

I'm wanting to Install 12.1.0.5 and need to use a repository db on another host.  I've always installed them on the same host where during the installation the agent is installed and registered in the oms along with the other repository db objects.   So, I'm wondering how that works when the installation of the agent is not local to the oms?  Is it the same process as any other target after the oms is installed? Another oddity for me is the db host is currently running an agent to an older oms.  Can I assume that that agent needs to
