Defining random S/N @ item instance creation

Hi Jim,

This is in continuation against the post under

As per your advice I was able to define the random S/N at the time of item instance creation however I found this process works under both scenarios if item is serial controlled as AT Sales order issue as well as At receipt.

Can you please help me to understand what is the difference between these 2 components in our business I discussed with my inventory guy and he tolf me we need the item serial controlled as AT receipt not as AT sales order  issue.
