Can an Absence Management entry update assignment status?

Hello,

Is there a way to create an absence type, that when used, would update the active assignment with an effective end date one day prior to the beginning of the absence, create a new "suspended" assignment record for the day of the absence and ending on the last day of the absence, and create the new "active" assignment one day after the end of the absence?

For example:

Employee A is going out on an unpaid leave of absence for two weeks.  Employee A goes into Absence Management and requests the time off by entering the absence in the system which is routed to the employee's manager for approval.
