OTM 6.4 report using dates

Is there any guidance other then the Report Designers guide on using dates in reports on OTM 6.4? In OTM 6.3.4 you would pass the date to the REPORTS_LIBRARY database package and parse the before, after, between from the string and use it to construct your date query.

In OTM 6.4 the sample reports do not use dates to see an example of the call.

Can you please advise.
