Disable 'Allow Dynamic Inserts' option on Accounting Flexfield

Dear Oracle Gurus,

Our company is speculating turning of 'Allow Dynamic Inserts' on the Accounting Flexfield after 3 years of using Oracle with the option enabled. The rationale for this being the maintenance of too many GL combinations and hence setting up of cross validations to overcome entry into unwanted combinations. What are the pros and cons of switching of switching of dynamic insert option. Advices in this regard would be appreciated.
