Navigation errors in Customer Menu: You have encountered an unexpected error

When trying to navigate through customer menu (in OM), getting the following random message:

Navigation errors in Customer Menu: You have encountered an unexpected error.  Please contact system administrator for assistance.

Have tried testing several different scenarios to see if there is any consistency/ recreation, but it is too random to narrow down to any particular steps or screen.  Do feel there may be some steps involving Site level searches, but nothing else is specific.

What might be the possible reason for this error?  Where should I start looking?
