Oracle Golden Gate Lag increases when DB stats gathered

HI

When DB stats are gathered during the weekend , the Replicat LAG increases. its 11.2.0.3 database and Goldengate version is 11.2.

As soon as the stats gather job is finished , the lag is slowly reduced to normal.

Could some one help understand why this could happen and any pointers to troubleshoot this issue.
