What tools versions are available with E1 9.0 Update 2? we are currently on 8.98.4 with E1 9.0

We are currently on E1 9.0 / Tools 8.98.4 and are doing an analysis for going to 9.0 Update 2 vs. going all the way to E1 9.2 (Apps). We have several constraints that require this analysis. If we go to E1 9.0 Update 2, do we have to change to another Tools Release? if so, which one is recommended?

We are aware that if we are on E1 9.0 Update 2 we could use the "Simplified Upgrade" process in the future to get to E1 9.2.  I am not a techie, so please keep it simple . Many thanks!
