Can the Primavera P6 Pro 8.3.2 client run without JAVA_HOME variable
We've been rolling out the P6 Pro 8.3.2 client to workstations of PMs over the last few months. Our windows corporate desktop image includes a Java JRE, but the JAVA_HOME environment variable is not set. As we launch functions like Claim Digger, the users see a very predictable error - "java.exe cannot be found." It's quite well covered here that the fix is to add or correct the JAVA_HOME variable. I've tested that, and it works just fine.
My challenge, however, is that we have several other Java-based applications in the enterprise, some of which are very sensitive to the workstation Java version and configuration. When I add or update JAVA_HOME on the workstation to fix the P6 issue, It's quite possible that I'll break one of the other applications. We're running through test cases now to understand the effects in a number of scenarios.
