General Ledger Journal Entry Summarization Vs GL Journal Import: Separate Journals by Accounting Dat

1. How the journal entry summarization setp and the profile option 'GL Journal Import: Separate Journals by Accounting date works together? which one prevails?

2. Scenario is as below - We are importing Journals from feeder systems there by populating the data in GL_INTERFACE table. Currently the above profile option is set to 'Null' at all levels

When we ran the 'Journal Import' -Ledger Currency Transactions are grouped by period where as foreign currency journals are grouped by date - Which setup controls this behaviour ?
