Coupon question / deal promotion

for coupon issue , this gets triggered on the next order

is there a way to issue a coupon directly after setup, so not on the next order ?

--> when talking about that, what is exactly the difference between deal and promotion,

i check the user guide, that it is for reporting purposes, but still that is not clear..

i do not need to setup a deal , if i just can use promotion ??
