Preference on Shipping Condition

Client has items where the domestic shipping condition differs from international.  For example, an item shipped domestically would be shipped refrigerated but the same item shipped internationally must be shipped Frozen. Is there a preference or setup that might help meet this requirement with standard functionality?  One option being considered to add a custom field (or try to find a place) for "international ship condition".
