Building a Custom Leaner Solaris 11.x OS Image for Deployment

Here's a Good Question, and I be interested to see Oracle's approach/recommendation for this, and How other Customers may be handling this?

Right now, we deploy with   "....xxxxx-OracleSolarisLargeServer"   +  we drop the GNU package on top of that.

Now we would like to take this image, (updating as New OS/SRU releases are issued by Oracle,) and strip out a given set of packages which would be found to be meaningless within the local environments.  In Other words a clean a  lean OS Build across the servers.

IFF I had a given list of packages they Knew they wished to be removes, could this be done against a COPY of say the above mentioned Solaris Large Server bundle.  And then we could use this leaner Custom Local Built OS to perform our deployments.

Howdy, Stranger!
