Submitting Schedule in BI Publisher is slow

When I submit a scheduled report, it takes a long time for the page to redirect and display that  'The job has been scheduled successfully.'. The BIP thead eventually gets stuck in the weblogic server and eventually overloads it.

Any ideas where the bottleneck could be? I can't find anything in the DB which can cause this (locks, long running queries, etc).
