Audit when an attribute changes?

Is there a way to tell if an attribute changes from one period to the next?  Maybe a report?  For instance, we have an attribute liability.  It was a liability for a year, copied to the periods, etc..  Bob the account comes in from account temps and accidentally changes that attribute to a Current Asset.  Is there an audit report that we could that would capture this or maybe out of the box functionality!
