Issue in JDE Next number

Issue in JDE XE version:

Next number(NN) for Journal entry (09 General Accounting)
has been reached maximum number of 99999999, have anyone faced this issue
before? how to handle it without any impact to business and audit, please help
on this.

I have below option :

  1. Reset the NN for journal entry to 1000 – Now we
    have 2 JE with 1000 one with old GL date may be 2009  i-e already
    generated and another one going to be generated i-e today date or future date
    and so on… I believe this would not have any business impact and there will be
    no question in audit as this duplicate JE number 1000 having 2 different GL
