Attachments associated to many records?

Hi,

I would like to implement a business requirement, which requires the same document being attached to several records, e.g. the same contract document attached to more than one account record. Attaching the document two or more times is not a solution, because changes to the document must be visibile at all "parents".

Is anybody aware of a smart solution to this?
