Possible to have Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.3.501 on same server as 11.1.2.4.xxx?

Is it possible to have Planning 11.1.2.3.501 running on same server or O/S as 11.2.4.xxx?  Not clear in install docs but Exalytics Doc ID 1946006.1 has the following:

Install multiple EPM instances under different OS users for Development and Test environments as below:

/u01/dev/app/oracle/product/EPM/user_projects/epmsystem1

and

/u01/test/app/oracle/product/EPM/user_projects/epmsystem1

By installing each EPM instance under a separate OS user and separate directory, the server processes are kept fully isolated. Software patches or settings can be applied to one environment, without impacting the other environment. One instance can be shutdown and the other can remain functional/accessible.
