JDBC Thin 'Connect Time' Performance Issues

edited Feb 16, 2016 3:05PM in Database Networking (MOSC) 1 comment

This is a common problem with the JDBC Thin driver.  There is a relatively new defect that can impair the 'connect time' performance when the JDBC Thin driver is used AND there might be an issue with a DNS server.   You may also discover that the listeners are slow to respond to other requests when this issue is occurring.  This is especially true during logon storms.

See the following document:  (Doc ID 1449843.1) Reducing Client Connection Delays When DNS Is Unresponsive

See also: Doc ID 18369949.8  Bug 18369949 - Slow connection of JDBC using dns lookup

If the JDBC Thin clients are timing out, extremely slow to establish a connection and/or the listeners (SCAN & VIP) appear to be hanging or extremely slow, this might be the issue.

Howdy, Stranger!
