After RMAN Target is patched with PSU (> than RMAN catalog DB PSU), I am receiving: PL/SQL package R

Hello, I am looking for some advise on RMAN compatibility -- what is the difference between RMAN catalog schema and RMAN executable and RMAN client?


1. My problem: 

Recently, on one of the RMAN target dbhome, I applied PSU.  This Target dbhome PSU level (Oct 2015) is higher than RMAN catalog dbhome PSU (July 2015).

Afterwards, oem rman backup job, or, accessing rman target & rman catalog using rman target's client error:

connected to recovery catalog database

PL/SQL package RMAN.DBMS_BA version 12.01.00.02.0 in RCVCAT database is too old

RMAN-03002: failure of set command at 02/10/2016 07:00:07
RMAN-03014: implicit resync of recovery catalog failed
RMAN-03009: failure of full resync command on default channel at 02/10/2016 07:00:07
