Need to increase length of a segment in existing chart of account

Hi,

I have defined chart of account with 9 segments and segment7 has length of 8 characters in our GOLD instance. We don't have any transactions in the instance.

I want to increase the length of the segment7 to 10 characters from 8 characters in existing chart of account.

How do I increase the length of segment in existing chart of account? Will it create any discrepancy?
