How to retain customization after R12 upgrade and migration from 11i ?

Hello All,

I am doing migration and upgrade between 11i to R12.2. My source is hp-unix 11 and target is RHEL6. I have done with the db migration, DB is running in 11gr2. My customer has customized most of the modules in 11i and he needs them to be retained in R12 as well. Since 11i is not supported in 64-bit i am just planning to lay down R12.2 binaries and upgrade it to R12.2.5 without doing any application migration(11i). But i have a doc id (1577707.1) through we can setup custom top in R12 instance.

But I need to know is it mandatory that should we migrate 11i source instance into target to retain all customizations? Kindly please clear or guide me to finish this upgrade.
