Install Oracle Non-RAC ASM 11.1.0.7 on HP-UX IA64 platform and Convert existing Database to use ASM

Hi All, we have an existing Oracle 11gr1 (11.1.0.7) Single Instance Non-ASM multi-terabyte production database running on HP-UX IA64 platform on HP-UX 11.31. We want to install Oracle 11gr1(11.1.0.7) ASM on this machine and convert this database to ASM database. I would like to know if Oracle 11gR1 Clusterware is mandatory in order to install Oracle ASM? We basically do no want any Oracle Clusterware of Oracle RAC, we just want to use ASM Storage.

Also, once ASM is Up and running, we would like to convert this Non-RAC, Non-ASM production database to a ASM database. Could any one let me the impact of Installing and Creating ASM instance on already running production database machine and also minimum down-time method to convert the Non-ASM database to ASM.
