tax being calculated on paid invoices after upgrade to 12.2.4

we recently upgraded from 12.1.3 to 12.2

we are set up for self assessing taxes --after the upgrade ap invoices which were entered and paid in prior years are suddenly have tax lines added on the validation program which runs nightly

has this happen to others and what is the solutions
