IB Switch Firmware Revs

I am an Oracle Engineer working on site at a Gov't facility.  Our customer has several Exadata Racks running an early version of 12.x.x and they would like to have one of their Exadata Full Rack upgraded to a later version of 12 (all racks will be in the same IB Fabric).  As part of the upgrade, the IB Switch FW would be upgraded.  My question is:  are all IB switches in the same IB fabric required to have the same FW or can they run at different FW revs.
