Will applying RPC-4 on 12.1.3 help in reduced upgrade effort to 12.2.4?

We are currently running 12.1.3.   We applied RPC-2 last July 2015.    We are planning an upgrade  to 12.2.4 sometime in 2017.

Our question --- Is there any benefit in applying RPC - 4 in 12.1.3 , as we are planning an upgrade to 12.2.4 next year.   In other words, will applying RPC-4 now help in reducing the upgrade effort for 12.2.4?
