Fixed Asset Master with Capital Asset Management

Finance is looking at fixed asset while maintenance is setting up shopfloor equipment on Capital Asset Management module. Now we know the shopfloor equipment (also an asset) is setup in fixed asset as well, and the consultant advises us that serial number field in the fixed asset master will be used to store the serial numbers from shopfloor equipment. However for the non-equipment assets, some will also have serial numbers. For example, computers (not activated in Capital Asset Management) will also be having serial numbers and finance would like to set these serial numbers into fixed asset master as well.
