ATO serial controlled items getting over reserved during pick release

Hi

We are running EBS R12.1.3 - OM / Shipping / Inv

We use an ATO model with serial controlled items.

Often when pick release runs (we have pick release running as a scheduled activity) the sales order line gets over-reserved. So the Move Order will have more reserved to than are required to fulfil the sales order line outstanding quantity.

The work around is to back order the move order and then rerun pick release.

Occasionally if a partial quantity is at Staged status, then to clear the over reservation we need to backorder some of the delivery lines before we can clear the over reservations from the sales order line.
