Looking for ideas

We have a purchased item that needs to be painted once received in house. Do not want to create a new part item ..... nor duplicate the quantity on hand. Looking for ideas on how to handle this process, which would hopefully be automated ...... maybe auto-generating a WO for an internal paint routing after the item has been received through the receiving process.
