New Item Master

We are a single inventory organization. We changed our costing method and item number method et al and created a new Item Master in Oracle. By creating the new item master the old item numbers and descriptions no longer appear in the legacy POs. Purchasing wants to be able to pull the item history for the old inventory items. Is there anyway we can provide this for them in a queriable form?
