How to end-date a component in an Asset BOM?

Gurus,

This may be fairly simple question but please read through it and provide us the best option to deal with the situation.

We want to disable a component in an Asset BOM which was accidently included earlier.

Please note - The component itself is active and it should be used in other Asset BOMs. We are not planning to use any alternate bom or revisions.

We can use delete components by using delete group, check the group and delete it. However, we would like to try the end-date option.

The "Date Effectivity" tab in Asset bom is disabled.  Is it because of licensing issue or do we need to go for ECO option to end-date a specific component in the bom ?
