System Performance Issues due to high volumes of WEB ADI Journals

Dear oracle Gurus

We experience system performance issues i.e. - slowing down of processing, programs running for a very long time, especially during month-end, because we have huge volume of transactions, large volume of Journals pushed in through Web ADIs due to the nature of our business. Wondered if there are recommendations to improve the performance both from system's side and by adopting user best practices? Thanks
