Siebel Inbound request and middleware timeout setting

Customer middleware team has a requirement to set timeout for real time messages that come from middleware and their processing lasts more than 5 seconds in Siebel. Now middleware wait "infinitely" for any Siebel response.  Having looked at HTTPSleep time at EAI set to 120sec whih probably would not impact at  all chainging any behaviour at siebel side and siebel would still respond in a time it might be doing earlier. All I want to understand if there is any setting on siebel which could minimize the impact with MW new timeout setting? Sessiontime out setting is default at 300s for EAI.  Customer
