How do time zone calculated for attribute_date fields on shipment table

Hi,

I am saving a date on shipment  table, attribute_date1 field. The shipment start time is normally using the time zone from  pick up location. but the time zone for this attribute date field is getting picked as US/Eastern. Unable to  know whereon is picking up that time zone. can any one  please tell where can we set time zone for the attribute fields in OTM.
